A Quinta do Pinheiro
Quinta do Pinheiro is 15.5 miles (25 Km) from Douro river and is located on the Região Vitivinicola Demarcada do Rio Douro (Rio Douro wine Protected Region), the oldest Apellation in the world, established by Marquês de Pombal in 1756. This region was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001.
Quinta do Pinheiro produces one of the best olive oils in the world, thanks to the excellent soil and climatic conditions of the so-called "Terra Quente" in Alto Douro region. Olive, almond and wine are the three major cultures of the farm.
